Last week: I open my web browser and click to my preset location on weather.com. Slowly my mouth curls down into a grimace; it looks like another full week of rainy days.
Where I live this is not a sign of the apocalypse, in fact, it is often wet and cold. And while for some that mean gloomier days, it does not have to translate into a fashion sacrifice.
In high school I got a tour of a Burberry showroom and I still remember what caught my eye. Tucked away in the corner was a practical and magnificent waterproof shoe… with a heel. Galoshes, wellies, rain boots, call them what you will, but let’s be honest, bulky rubber boots don’t usually equal sex appeal. With a perky heel though they definitely help you step your game up a notch. If you’re one of those people who doesn’t quite understand the logic of cascading in heels in slippery weather there is still another cute option for you. Instead of pointed heels, pick a boot with a wedge or a regular bottom and a pointed tip instead of rounded toe. It will make your boots look more “polished equestrian” than “bulky bore.” Tip: also look waterproof shoes that are a little tighter around than the leg. The 90s are over so no need for superfluous room to tuck in chunky cargo pants. Wear bootcut or skinny jeans, leggings, tights, or just high socks with these styles!
