A-Z of The Best Dressed Celebrities of 2012

Below I’ve complied a sample of some of the great looks from the best dressed celebs of 2012. I didn’t include all the fantastic looks (Emma Stone had about 1,000) or even just my favorites, but after seeing these three selections from each lady I think you’ll see why they topped my A-Z list. I also excluded a few (P, Q, U, W, X, and Y). Do you think Penelope Cruz or anyone else should fill in one of the empty spots? Tell me what you think!

2012 Trend: The Mustache

Although 2012 didn’t seem to show an increase the number of men sporting facial hair, it did bring out a loud and proud type of woman who professes the appeal of bushy upper lip hair through clothing and accessories. The quirky isolated mustache symbol became a woman’s way to participate in Movember. My favorite spotting was of shirts that read “I mustache you a question…” These are my other picks:

Nimli Pashmina Scarf/Shawl Giveaway (5 Winners)

scarfI love finding out about new brands, so I was ecstatic when I came across the sophisticated clothing and accessories site, Nimli.com. The dresses on the site are packed with personality and are designed in flattering hues. You’ll love their platforms which give you plenty of height, and their flats are perfect for people who demand style without suffering from achy feet. Best of all, they sell pashmina scarves with twenty-five colors to choose from. If you don’t own a pashmina you might not know how amazing they are, but I’ll fill you in. They are the perfect accessory: to keep you warm, to wear indoors and outside, to spice up a basic look, etc. Plus, you can wear them so many different ways! I made up a brief list of some options below.

1. Wrap it up like a snood

2. Let it hang down and belt it with your top

3. Casually toss it over one shoulder

4. Wear it over your head and toss it over you shoulder. Make sure you’re wearing sunglasses so people confuse you with a movie star :)

5. Knot it in the front

6. Where it as a shawl with a matching sleeveless dress to keep warm and look cute

Time for the great news! Nimli.com is giving a Classic Pashmina Shawl ($85 value) to FIVE lucky winners! pearlRules:The contest is open to US residents only. It will be open from December 13th- December 26th at 12am. You must “like” Nimli.com on Facebook and “like” Fashionscoopblog.com on Facebook to enter. If you are declared a winner and your entries are invalid, a new winner will be drawn.

Trend 2012: The Skater Dress

Although London hosted the 2012 Summer Olympic Games (still a couple of years before we watch ice arabesques and flawless triple axles in awe), the ice skating uniform became a popular shape for dresses. It’s also known as the “fit and flare” style because the top is tight until the waist, then the attached skirt swings out in a wide A shape. In velvet (see the pink one below) the look is great for New Year’s. These are my picks:

2012 Trend: Wet Look Leggings

The leggings this year were not your standard cotton/spandex blend that can be worn to the gym or under a dress. The shiny, bright colors look like body-paint on your legs are best worn with a long t-shirt, but they certainly are a fun way to stay covered. These are my picks:

2012 Trend: Bubble Necklace

In the final month before we enter 2013, I wanted to dedicate all posts to fashionable moments from 2012.

The bubble necklace is one trend I never reported on, but it was (and still is) having a major moment since summer. It is a necklace that is made of round colored beads that fall like a symmetrical chandelier with the middle section hanging past the other two sides. What’s great about wearing one in the winter is you get to add a little warmth to your wardrobe with fond memories of hammock days without the chilly regret of wearing sandals in the snow. Perfect for brightening up a black ensemble. These are my picks:

J.Crew- $150

Olive+Piper.com- $25

Nimli.com- $30

Animal Novelty Sweaters

You swore you would never dress like Aunt May, even when you turn 75, but suddenly your friends are doing it… and they are a decades below senior citizen age. Blame it on the annual tradition of ugly sweater parties which are have become the must-have event of the year for twenty to thirty-year-olds. As a result you can now find sweaters with bells and whistles (literally) in fashion-forward shops. The alternative to Santa, light-up evergreen trees, and singing dreidels are quirky animal heads or a large print of a wildlife creature on an oversized or brightly colored knit. If you wear them with confidence the look is ironically stylish and “where did you get that?” cool. Here are my picks:

Bunny Pullover, PacSun, Kirra- $33

Tiger Crew Sweater, Piperlime.com, Hive and Honey- $59

Polar Bear Pullover, Urban Outfitters, Pins and Needles- $59

Penguin Sweater, Net-a-Porter, Tibi- $375
