Best Dressed Golden Globes 2014

7. Jessica Chastain in Givenchy- The black played up her curves with feather style detailing and a feminine flared shape. She completed her look with an exquisite diamond necklace.

6. Julianne Margulies in Andrew Gn- Julianne Margulies isn’t young by Hollywood’s standard, but she owned this black dress with gold branch detailing. She looked just as radiant as any twenty year old.  (She even pulled off cap sleeves which can be tricky on formal wear!)

Maternity Wear Worn Right

The Kardashian’s love fashion– just google their enormous closets, the Dash boutique, and the KK line designed for Sear’s. Kim especially is recognized for her standout choices that hug all her curves and call for attention. It’s no surprise that pregnancy won’t stop her from wearing mustard leather, ruffled satin pants, and graphic black and white dresses all accompanied by high heels. While she should be able to enjoy this time without the fashion police butting in, her style is getting talked about  because she hasn’t adjusted her wardrobe to her changing body.  When you’re interviewed on late night TV and attending red carpet events you still want to wear expensive labels, and it’s hard to redefine your look for nine months. While shopping her closet and maintaining her sexy style allows her be a glamazon even with a baby on the way, the clothes are not as figure flattering as they could be if she wore real maternity wear.  For celebrities it’s tricky because the world of designer maternity wear seems limited. Luckily, for those of us on a tighter budget, we can appreciate that maternity wear is sold all over, including H&M, Old Navy, Asos.com and Target. Below are three outfits that are comfortable and flatter your round tummy.

A-Z of The Best Dressed Celebrities of 2012

Below I’ve complied a sample of some of the great looks from the best dressed celebs of 2012. I didn’t include all the fantastic looks (Emma Stone had about 1,000) or even just my favorites, but after seeing these three selections from each lady I think you’ll see why they topped my A-Z list. I also excluded a few (P, Q, U, W, X, and Y). Do you think Penelope Cruz or anyone else should fill in one of the empty spots? Tell me what you think!

Emmys 2012: Top 10 Best Dressed

Padma Lakshmi in Monique Lhuillier- She couldn’t have picked a better dress to wear. The warm orange looked amazing against her tan skin, and it fit to perfection.

Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra- I’m partial to this dress because my cousin wore it in white to her wedding last month! It was a great choice for Zooey Deschanel as well; the ample cleavage helped Zooey look fun and not dowdy and the powder blue hue was sweet  just like the flower scalloped edges on the thin layers of the skirt.

Kelly Osbourne in Zac Posen- It’s no wonder Kelly has been topping best dressed lists since joining Fashion Police. This lilac number reminded me of her dress from the awards show a year before but nonetheless it’s gorgeous. Bonus points for the flawless makeup.

Sarah Paulson in Reem Acra- I loved this modern Cinderella gown with the ribbon belt and cascading beads atop tulle. So pretty!

January Jones in Zac Posen- Part Lady Gaga, part enchanted romantic, the whirly dress was a bit daring even though it was all black.

Hayden Panettiere in Marchesa- This dress probably would have received an A even without the sari inspired draping but the sheer blue fabric which collected in pieces around her feet gave it exotic spin.

Sarah Hyland in Marchesa-  A change from the mostly bright or jewel tones, she choose a gray gown with rhinestone embellishment on the sleeves. The dress looked finely crafted and beautiful.

Elisabeth Moss in Dolce and Gabbana- She delivered in a silky gown with flirty ruffles. The high-low hemline emabled her to show off her gams and she dressed her feet with basic black pumps which didn’t distract from the floral dress.

Giuliana Rancic in Romona Keveza- I almost don’t want to give her credit for picking such a safe option, but sometimes finding an expensive dress with the right fabric and fit is all you need to nail it, and that’s exactly the hypothesis she used.

Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad and Julianne Hough in Georges Hobeika- Both women came in sexy mermaid dresses that attested to the fact that you can be thin and curvy. I prefer the shimmering detail and texture of the Rock of Ages star but it’s almost too sea-like.Vergara sparkles with sequins aligned in all different directions and more restricting bottom.

A special shout-out for Tina Fey who wore something stylish, form-fitting, and ideal for her frame. We knew her dressing skills were right up there with her sketch comedy gifts.

VMAs 2012- Best Dressed

Maria Menouos in Kymerah- She showed some flair with one of the three black leather dresses of the evening– but the only one with a circle skirt. The look proved leather can be ladylike while the bustier top showed off her sexier side. With straight hair and a matching clutch she looked ready to take on the red carpet.

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel- Finally branching out in a sexy white pants suit, Taylor looked grown-up and chic. She kept the neckline clean with a sliver of deep cleavage and let the jewels dangle only from her earlobes. Because of the single color she was able to play up her face with a crimson lipstick and smoky brown eyeliner. The ensemble was paired with gladiator gold sandals which made the outfit less business and more rock n’ roll.

Shaun Robinson- I haven’t seen much of Shaun Robinson, but when I typed her name into Google a slew of gorgeous dresses turned up. Her outfit was neither too provocative nor too basic. The jewel covered dress in the complementary peacock color sparkled during interviews. The picture of her is the one on top and from the MTV website.

Amy Paffrath in Agua Dulce- It’s hard to resist a neon lemon dress with rose lace detailing. Instead of an obvious sweetheart neckline the dress formed a point on one side and a line between the bodice and skirt as extra details of interest. She kept the focus on the bright dress with black accessories.

Rihanna in Adam Selman- The Barbados born babe kept it clean in a white, backless number. Although it was a full-length dress, she kept it VMAs appropriate with the knot at the hip like a sarong. The dress also had cute tie accents on the back of both mismatched sleeves. Now with a very close cropped cut she proves no hairstyle or shade is off limits.

Spice Up Your Life

I figured it was time to start spicing things up with some pictures, and in honor of my first picture post I decided to actually “spice things up” with Spice Girls inspiration. Yesterday the preforming girl squad reunited for the Closing Ceremonies at the London Olympics. When I was younger I was obsessed with Posh Spice, her glossy stick straight hair and sleek leather mini-dresses. Her style and attitude brought out my glam side. But since then I’ve moved on from coveted her high-maintenance coquettish look to something well– a bit sportier, a Spice Girl I used to ignore. Originally I took a bunch of photos with a high sock bun to really channel my inner Sporty Spice, but I still have enough diva in me to let the locks flow free. The bun looked too constricting. The sweatshirt dress takes a little bit from both ladies’ styles and the stacked bangles imitate Mel C’s arm bracelet tattoo.

Fashion Lessons From The Bachelor/Bachelorette

Do style sequins for day and night

Emily Maynard was not shy in the spotlight. For rose ceremonies and strolls in the park alike she dressed to dazzle in sparkles. Some people think sequins are only appropriate during the holiday season, with the last available opportunity being New Year’s Eve. However, they can be a delightful way to shine even during afternoon hours.

Shorts, Topshop- $90

Dress, French Connection- $398

Don’t wear gloves when a man is going to put a ring on it.

In the most recent season of the Bachelor, the last episode left Ben F. with two  anxious ladies awaiting a proposal. That means even if cocky Courtney was less certain he was going to propose there was still about a 50% chance it would happen. The fact that she knew why she was walking on a grassy path to meet her love left me bewildered as to why she wore elbow length leather gloves.  She was  bound to take them off (they were sexy but too rugged for the evening gown anyway) and leave them off. Think of it this way, most women are surprised the very moment  a guy gushes how he wants to spend the rest of his with her in the equation. When its almost a guarantee that a Neil Lane diamond will be slipped on, its smart to show that finger flesh so you don’t have to limply hold your glove in pictures…Although did anyone else notice how there happened to be a rock stand strategically placed?

Do know a tied shirt and cuffed denim is an easy way to do casual chic

Ashley Hebert wore this downtime attire and looked comfortable and refreshing. Shortening a button down with a knot is way to show you care about style but didn’t spend all day rummaging through your closet to find perfection. She had enough to worry about occupying the attention of twenty-five men and still plenty of other occasions to dress to the nines.

Top, Bebe- $50

Shorts, Victoria’s Secret- $40

Do wear a prairie girl dress with cowboy boots even when it’s sunny

There are some contradictions that just feel right, and Courtney knows about this. Even in warm summer weather she wore tall leather boots. Her dainty white dress looked better offset with a pair of brown shoes and a Western style fringed bag.  Throwing on boots is just as effortless as walking in flip-flops but it adds more character. Another reason it worked? It was her outfit choice in the episode where she put together a mock wedding. The boots ensured she didn’t mimic a real bride too closely in her ruffled white dress.

Boots, Nordstrom, Vince Camuto- $169

Dress, Anthropolgie, Vanessa Virginia- $100
